Professor Kea specializes in pre-colonial West African and Ghanaian economic, cultural, and social history.
Professor Kea received his B.A. degree from Howard University, a diploma in History from the University of Copenhagen, his M.A. with Distinction from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana; and his Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has been a UCLA-University of Ghana Exchange Program Visiting Professor as well as a James S. Coleman African Studies Center Research Fellow and a Ford Foundation African History Fellow.
