Awards & Honors
OUR ACADEMIC AWARDS CEREMONY
Our students are achievers. We honor their success. Each year African Student Programs recognizes a select group of students at our annual Academic Awards Ceremony in the spring. We present awards to outstanding students from all classes as a way of celebrating their academic achievement for the year. Join the ranks of those honored at our Academic Awards Ceremony. Here’s how:
- Make the Dean’s List at least once between the end of spring quarter and the end of winter quarter. In order to make the Dean’s List, a scholar must achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher for one quarter, taking 12 units or more and receiving a letter grade of “B” or better for all courses taken.
- Earn a “Top 10” spot by having one of the 10 highest cumulative GPAs among students of African descent in your respective class by the end of winter quarter.
- African Student Programs also pays tribute to students who have received other awards, honors and fellowships, and/or have attained membership in elite organizations, at the Academic Awards Ceremony.
We also present exemplary graduating seniors with special awards at our annual Black Graduation. For more details, please see our Black Graduation page.
